A Guide to Moving With Pets

Relocating across country is an exciting and life changing transition. Having said that, there is quite a bit of stress that comes with a long-distance move. This can be an overwhelming process for everyone in the family and more so, your pets. The reason is because pets have an instinctive fear of new surroundings, so you want to help them get adjusted quickly.

There are a few steps to take in order to prepare your pets for the move. It is pertinent to keep them calm and help them transition into the new home.

Packing and Prepping

Moving does not happen overnight, especially when you are relocating from one part of the country to another. Packing your possessions, decluttering and giving away unwanted ones and preparing your current place for the next owner or renter are parts of the process. All these can impact your pet. Here are some important ways to care for your furry family member during the chaos.

1.      Keep your pets as calm as possible while moving boxes

You may start packing your home weeks or even months ahead.  As it is a tedious process for you, it is can be a stressful one for your pet.  Dogs, especially thrive on routine and familiarity so when their home is changing, so would their anxiety level.  You may want to keep things normal for as long as possible by starting at the areas where your pet does not spend much time in.  Packing up items from the garage or basement will give you a good head start and won't impact your pets compared to packing away in the living room or bedroom. Boxing up items from the garage, basement, attic, and closets will give you a huge head start, but won’t impact your pets the way packing away the living room or bedrooms will.

2. Keep moving boxes out of the way.

Stacks of boxes within reach of a curious kitten or a dog can be a safety hazard.  They can also cause your pet stress because they are a barrier  they can also cause your precious pet stress because they are a barrier to certain parts of the house.

3.  Leave your pet’s belongings out until moving day.

In order to help your pet feel secure amid the moving madness, you may have to leave the cat's litter box or dog's crate around until the last moments before packing the truck.

Transporting your pet

One of the best ways to transport your pet to your new place is to hire a professional pet mover.  Pet movers offer a variety of services including personally transporting your pets by car or private plane.  Pet movers can also navigate tricky situations like quarantines and flight regulations when the need arises.  Finding an affordable pet transport service that you can trust is often not always straightforward.  This is where online shipping marketplace such as Shiply can help. All you need to do is fill up some information online and start to receive personalized quotes in your email.  You can compare quotes and check their feedback score all in one place.

#OceanSprings Front #Beach

I guess I have to tell you that I don't live in Florida anymore. It's been 4 years since we lived in Mississippi and we were just 3 minutes away from the beach. This place is beautiful and I cant wait to show and share with y'all some of the pictures I took.

My Long Haired #Dachshund: A Rescue Dog

When people talk about pets and furry friends, I was so detached. Not that I don't like pets. Don't get me wrong but the reality was, I just cant relate. Well, that was 3 years ago and I tell you, my outlook towards animals and their human parents changed ... for the better!

This is Rusty, my rescued long haired dachshund on his first day at home. My husband and I were not planning to get a dog. We were just visiting the Jackson Humane Society to check the animals in the area and LO and BEHOLD! We went home with a 2 year old stubborn dachshund and I tell you, it was the best decision ever!

Today, Rusty is 4 years old and 5 months and though he is stubborn and a big snob, he is very loving, sweet, funny and a good boy. I love him so much! I never imagine myself hugging and kissing a dog but yes, I did that to this baby boy. He gives me joy and so much more. He knows that we love him so much.

Guess what? After 2 years of having Rusty, we rescued a puppy. A puppy who grew up so big that we almost return back to the shelter, LOL! I will tell you about this puppy on my next post. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Gifts

It's my birthday today. My husband and I celebrated my special day by having a short road trip from Mississippi to Florida. t was fun! I was craving for a meal that was sold by Miller's Ale House and the nearest location from us is in Pensacola. Off we did go! For birthday presents, I really did not wish for anything. I have a Taylor 110 at guitarcenter.com which my father-in-law had given me, its hidden in the closet and I never played with it. So, for now ... I don't wish for anything but, good health for today and always.

#CandleDecor

When I am not working, I used my free time cleaning the house, organizing things and decorating.
So yesterday, while cleaning the shed, I found this unopened box. It's a candle décor with a fountain in it. I bought this years ago and got hidden to all the boxes in the house when we moved from Florida to Mississippi.

The fountain is really soothing to the ear and I have it in the bedroom.

I like it. The only setback is that it runs with battery.

Other than that, this is great. It's a small size so, I plan to transfer this décor to the bathroom. The candle light is perfect in a good size area.

Sing-Along

I've been asking my co-workers if they know how to play the guitar and almost all of them says that they don't. I guess I will be stuck for the longest time to halt my guitar playing hobby. That's not god huh? If only I can find my tuner then, I will be fine. Just this week, I was thinking to buy a microphone for my sing-along activity at home.  Since I can't have a  peavey electric guitar, I am just excited to listen to music and sing-a-long with it.

#GuitarTuning Gadget

Hello #guitarenthusiasts out there! How's it going? I bet you've been learning new songs these days and I can't blame you. There are so many beautiful music these year and like you, I can't wait to play them using my #guitar. So, I went to one of my favorite online stores last week and I bought this gadget to help me tune my guitar.

I admit, the hardest activities while I play my guitar is not strumming or following the chord charts, those I can learn easy but. I'm terrible when it comes to #tuningguitar. To tune guitar is a hassle because I have to ask someone to fix it for me. Thank God for innovators out there who made this type of gadget and thus made my hobby moment enjoyable! If you happen to come by in my blog and looking for a gadget to tune your guitar, get this stuff! It made a difference!

When I go to work, I always bring my two phones, my smart watch and my earphone just like the  westone earphones. Not only that, sometimes I also bring my iPad and my camera. My sling bag is truly heavy because of these gadgets. Without one of these gadgets, it feels like something is missing. What about you? What are the things that is in your purse aside from your wallet?

#Saxophone #Mouthpiece

Yes, I love my new phone and I have been using it to download music. One of my favorite collections is the single of Chuck Mangione's "Feel So Good". I was watching the video in YouTube and I just love that song. I just wish that there are more artists in this generation that can play saxophone as good as that. I play guitar but, I never tried saxophone. I would like to try to play a saxophone as long as I will have my own beechler alto sax mouthpiece. Can you guess why?
